Push notifications are the messages that pop up on a parent's device to alert them that there's something new to look at in Parent Hub.
These notifications are therefore very useful but, as with any app, a parent can choose to turn them off if they wish. If push notifications are turned off the parent will still receive your messages in the Parent Hub app, but they won't get an alert when the messages arrive.
If a parent has push notifications turned off, we notify parents them of this in the app and provide instructions for how to switch them on.
To complicate matters, there are 2 other ways in which push notifications can become turned off:
- If the parent logs out of the app (not closes it, but actually selects the log out option); and
- If the parent deletes the app.
The Parent Support centre within the Parent Hub portal highlights to you the people who are subscribed to your school but have push notifications turned off.
Sadly, we don't know if they've turned them off, logged out or uninstalled the app and so we recommend that you contact these parents directly to find out what's going on.
As always, if the parent reports a problem that you don't know how to deal with, just send it to us at firstname.lastname@example.org and we'll be happy to help.
