How can you keep your website fresh and up to date and give visitors a sneak preview of all the fantastic things happening at your school?
Displaying your most recent channel posts on your website boosts engagement, saves time and avoids duplicated effort:
| Keep your website fresh with live updates | |
| Save time and effort by only posting things once | |
| Showcase your family engagement ahead of OFSTED visits | |
| Engage the wider community |
Here's how it might look on your school website:
In this guide:
What you’ll need
- Someone who has access to your website’s Content Management System (CMS). They may also want to use our more in-depth technical installation guide to help with setup.
- An admin-level Parent Hub account with the Engagement Power-Up
(hint: anyone on Parent Hub Plus or Pro already has this feature pack)
- Some great content worth sharing to your website
Preparing your widget
The content you decide to share will appear on your website with the help of a widget – a panel that simply shows content from another source, in this case – your Parent Hub channels.
To begin setting up your web widget, head to Admin > Marketplace > Integrations and click Manage
Next, choose which channels can share content in the widget:
Enable the widget and switch to the Preview tab on the right to see how your widget will look, so you can check you’re happy before saving any changes:
Please note: any changes you make will only take effect (and be reflected in the 'Live Widget' tab view) after saving.
If you spot a post you don’t want to appear in the widget, dismiss the 'Web Sharing: Manage Widget' overlay, and head over to the channel where it was posted. Find the specific post and select 'Hide from web sharing' from the action button options:
Taking it live
Finally, you need to embed the widget code in your school website. Or at least, someone does. If this sounds like a foreign language, don’t worry – just click the COPY CODE or EMAIL CODE buttons and send it to the person who usually deals with your website. They may also want to use our technical installation guide to help with setup.
And that’s it! Content you post in the selected channels will appear in the widget on your website, unless you choose not to share a post. You can choose to hide a post before sending it in Manage Web Sharing > Show options:
