The One-way Message feature within Parent Hub is used for sending messages to the contacts of specific students.
App messages, and SMS or email messages personalised using Merge Tags , are unique to each student.
This means that contacts may receive a copy of your message for each student included in the group.
To help keep your text message costs low, and preserve your sender reputation, identical messages are collated by default when delivered by text message or email using Parent Hub. You may change this setting anytime, including at the point of sending.
Frequently-asked questions
1. Are One-way Messages always sent as text messages (SMS)?
No - One-way Messages are sent the same way as other messages in Parent Hub, i.e. we'll always try to deliver them by app where possible, unless you instruct us otherwise, and only use SMS or email to reach those parents who've not yet downloaded the app.
2. Can parents reply to my One-way Messages?
No - if you'd like a reply, try Chats instead.
3. Are One-way Messages private?
Yes - we'll only send One-way Messages to verified parents on the app, or by text message or email using the details from your MIS, and only to contacts with parental responsibility.
4. Can parents see who else was included in the One-way Message?
No – each message is sent individually, with no information whatsoever sent about any other recipients.
